Lessons Learned

It's hard to believe another year has come and gone.  December was a rush of excitement at work which made the month seem to evaporate.  I guess it's that time now to reflect on just what happened this year and absorb what lessons were learned.  These are my top 10 for 2011.

1. Sharing my gifts are truly what make them gifts
2. Giving money away to the cable and satelite companies all these years was a total waste of money.
3. Long distance relationships can work and grow
4. Good friends are easy to find if you are one of them
5. I get what I think about the most so it's important to stay positive
6. Talking to your parents (grandparents) regularly is important
7. My health is important and I must listen to my body
8. Communication skills only work if both parties have the skills
9. My grass is just as green as everyone else's
10. Loving myself is paramount, loving and accepting love from others is a blessing.

So my friends, take care in the new year.  May it bring you love and laughter, good health and a joyful heart.

Happy New Year!
Love
Peggy

By Hook or By Crook!

It appears I missed November altogether...sorry about that.  I guess there was either not enough exciting to write about or too much going on to take the time for writing.

Work is going great...my coworkers and I have been doing some fun classes with the folks we support and we are all learning in the process.  This month we are exploring Christmas around the world, a different country and their traditions everyday.  So far I think I like Egypts customs the most as they are most focused on the true meaning of Christmas with very few gifts and more religion and family centered.  Today we are going on a journey to Brazil where they boast the worlds largest Christmas tree!
I have also completed a course to become a reading tutor.  A few folks that I support at work expressed a keen interest in learning how to read so my coworker and I took the two weekend course and have been busy starting the learning process with them.  What a great feeling it is to help someone learn to do what most of us take for granted!

Now that things have settled down for me and I am down to one job I felt it was time to embrace the idea of getting a new puppy.  I miss Maddie so much and the house is just to quiet living alone.  I have had a dog my whole life and I really miss the companionship.  So, Hook entered my life last Sunday.  I was told he is a Malteese/Terrior mix but he's pretty big for 10 weeks old.  We will see just how big he gets but he sure is a cutie and hooked my heart at first sight.

Steve and I are doing great.  He is hoping to move down here by Christmas which we are both looking forward to.  It has been a trying year of long distance relating but it has somehow worked out.

I did manage to get 4 cords of wood this year for the wood furnace and thanks to the High School Rugby team it all got stored and stacked down in my basement.  A great thing about living in a small community is that you only need to ask for help and it is there!  What a terrific bunch of young men and great coaches for rolemodels.

I think that is all the news for today...time to get ready for my last day of work this week.  Happy Friday everyone!
